This is an open invitation to all bboys and bgirls across Ireland and the UK.
The competition is open to 16 applicants, but a reserve list is also being drawn up.

At the moment we are in the process of organising A LOT of stuff to make this event a success. We are in talks with banks and sponsors and putting on fundraising gigs in order to have prize money, venue rental, judges and djs as well as a few other cards up our sleeves.

It is 95% confirmed that Spring and Airbrake will be the venue, which is seriously awesome. The floor is perfect, big stage for DJs and live bands, and afterwards the venue opens up into 3 separate venues, each with their own flavour of music throughout.

Prices for entry, prize money, accomodation and rules will be posted very soon so keep an eye out! :)

The ‘I Love HipHop’ movement.
Started out of a need to have a night dedicated to the art of Hip Hop ,a lot of people will be familiar with the name but many don’t realise that it is in fact a culture incorporating several different components –firstly and I suppose more well know will be the Music –by now everyone will be familiar with the names Jay-Z , Kanye West ,Eminem and a testament to the culture can be seen in the like of Oxygen –T in the Park and Glastonbury with rappers been the headline act , but not so well know are the other pioneers of the Rap game –the Krs1 ,Guru ,J Dilla the list goes on ,so with local Dj’s Disc Jockey Mac3 , Rainers and Eggz this aspect is well covered ranging from Mow town / Funk / Disco / RnB / with Jazz /Blues /Drum n Bass all been incorporated –theses are the roots of the music we now call Hip Hop so with more than 40 years collectively having an interest in vinyl record collecting ,scratching and playing a huge number of venues across Ireland they will be sure to please –we will also be show casing local and national dj’s over the coming months all whom will bring there own spin (pardon the pun) on what they feel is HipHop orientated ,next would be the MC master of ceremonies /Hype man /Rapper all an integral part of the scene ,firstly used to hype up the Dj or in fact talk between mixes ,these word wizards soon came into there own making the MC as important as the Dj spawning a huge public demand for them to be more used in advertising and movies alike think ‘Juice’ with a young 2pac Shakur or ‘8 Mile’ with a young rabbit know as Eminem –you can now see mc’s everywhere promoting all manner of thing but we will be keeping it real and not selling anything only ourselves ,they will perform there skills and of course interact with the crowd .
Then the next key element been the dancers or B-boys and B-girls as there know – leading the way here will be Limerick finest troop the ‘Limerocks’ led all the way by local legend B-boy BazzyB some one who has become synonymous with the art of breaking /break dancing on and around limerick for years he will also be join by other b-boys and girls on the night to give an astonishing visual view and an education to anyone who thinks they can dance –not to put anyone off joining in or anything but it’s a sight to behold.
Fourthly in the list of Elements of HipHop would be the mighty Graffiti Artists a some what frowned upon art form due to the misunderstanding of it –here we will be joined by true artists in every sense of the word – coming from the streets and colleges of Ireland to show people what a Tagger does, the fore sight and skill in doing this is second to none and will also enlighten your visual senses –seeing how a simple spray can can transform it self into a work of art.
Fifthly I suppose is the clothes/rags associated with hip hop –from your Adidas 3 stripes to Mark Ecko and Rocawear and of course the unmistakable baseball caps and other assorted headwear which will be fashioned through out the night by Breakers/Dj’s and followers alike.
I Love HipHop will be from the people (us) to the people (you) ,limerick has been crying out for a new lease of life in the clubs and bars around Limerick – this will have something for everyone Audio Heaven in stereo vinyl ,to jaw dropping acrobatic spins flips n kicks – it’s all about bringing a collective of like minded people together for possible the first time under one roof for what will be a Epic Encounter for all to behold , Look out for special preview and impromptu gigs going on around in the next few weeks – Podcasts and Internet video clip also and if your lucky you might even get a mix tape featuring the best of musically.
So there you have it a brief introduction of what the plan is and what’s on offer –posters going to print very shortly /they might even be up by now –you’ll see um just look for the big RED heart, I Love HipHop Limerick

In a nut shell the SIRF event for 2010 will feature street theatre, circus, dance, music and pyrotechnics from world class artists and performers over four days from thurs til sunday.

DYZEE & ROXRITE WORKSHOPS Tues 26th July - Thurs 28th July 10am - 3pm

They are going to be in newcastle for over a week and we will be holding a 3 day intensive workshop with them.

2 hours in the morning with one and 2 hours in the afternoon with the other. For this spaces are very limited and you need to be able to attend all days.

Travel...Fly to Newcastle or Durham Airport first..then...

Best option is to either go to Middlesborough or Darlington and change their if your getting a train. Train from their will cost about $5 return and will take about 15mins, or 30mins depending on which train you catch.

Signs for the Event will be posted at the Station, but ask anyone where the town centre is, its very small and you will find it.
