its a classic example of whats wong with it

if it was over beats he wouldnt of lasted 20 seconds and been put out there and then, saving having to watch 3 rounds of cringeworthy battling

Im not saying there is no good battlers but now any cunt can prepare some punchlines in advance and rhyme some syllables together and get away with accapella battling, theres not even half the skill involved if it was over beats

and how come now its acceptable for everyone to prepare for their opponents?? A few years ago no one woulda got away with that

ps sprungy is my hero, at least the dude has an original style

I know what you're saying. It is starting to get a bit played out. The way to do it with beats would be to have mics and rip the audio off the soundboard so all the cunts making noise don't drown out all the punchlines. You can't just point a camera at some dude rapping over beats or the sound qualitys going to be shite.

I think the reason acapella really took off is because it's cheap. People just get a camera and stand on a street somewhere. Having to put a gig on is more hassle. Fuck all people listen/watch battles anyway. It's a very niche audience.

If there was alot of money in it you'd get better people, more freestyling and less writtens, or better disguised writtens at least.

yeah your spot on about it taking off cause its cheap

like there was 2-3 year peroid where id enter every battle goin and battle everyone, i battled with respek ba and all that and was even crowned scottish mc champion one year after takin out a whole rake of mcs lol, ive always been a huge fan of it but it just feels like the whole things become diluted and played out, and I suppose ive just moved my focus onto other areas of music as ive become older, the same way all mc's do really (unless theyre making a living off battling).

Thats another reason why I like the end of the weak battles, its a proper battle in the sense its about who can actually rap the best rather win a slaggin match

Big up to eurgh tho fair play for what hes trying to do, grass roots hiphop for the love and all that

Videoing stuff and putting the stuff on the internet is probably putting people off as well. If you fuck anything up it's going to go on youtube and you'll have loads of arm chair wankers giving out that you fucked a few syllables up. If it's just in front of a bunch of people then nobodys going to really care that much or remember it a few weeks later.

I think the likes of Mickey should fly over to the UK (fuck it, it'd cost 20 quid on Ryanair) and battle some UK heads. Other than audio battles there hasn't been much happening over here.

Madness, never knew you battled BA Jee4ce. I'd love to have seen some of that shit.

Could we not just organise a couple of once off battles. Might drum up some interest. Sounds to me like Nuie and Mickey are the only ones that are actually interested, or was Nuie just putting up a cash prize and not actually interested in battling himself?

Agreed 100%. Sounds like the best thing to do. My aim was to get 8 battlers and set up 4 battles for a trial day, but it may actually now be more realistic to look to set up two battles for starters.

good to see Mickey Gatch is well on board, just need to find 3 other heads definately up for battling and then go from there really.

If it goes well, then could become a bi-monthly thing.

not enough emcees in the country to battle in things like this, sure all the good ones are fucking friends basically and id say alot of them wouldnt wanna get involved in something like this incase it causes a rift of some sort

personally i wouldnt bother partaking cuz i wouldnt handle it to well i have to short a fuse Razz

but i would defo enjoy watching if it went down

MC Rob and Tempo are both good on the spot freestlyers that ive seen
