Current mood:
Post them here.
Preferably as a featuring artist.
For example, Pharoahe Monch on the well known beauty that is 'Oh No'.
It was already a super-dopealicious track before Pharoahe started boom-bapping (starting at 2:00).
Anyway, give more more examples/videos/link'ages of MCs doing said feat...

Tupac on mind made up, he left Redman, Method Man, Daz and Kurrupt for dust.

I'll agree that 2Pac came better (lyrically) on that track than he usually does, but I'd also argue that Method Man came stronger than anybody else on it!
Noice'ish track overall by the way.

I'll accept that. I guess it's just his delivery blows people away, as he's not usually that type of rapper (lyrically). He sort of gave that style up after 2pacalypse for a more straight forward story telling approach of his 2pacalypse singles. I suppose its more of a "Oh shit, he can actually do it" moment.

Method Mans verse is actually the only verse on that album that is censored. The line:

"Fuck you losers, while you fake jacks I makes maneuvers /like Hitler, sticking up Jews with German lugers"

Jews and lugers is censored, due to Jimmy Iovine from interscope refusing to release it unless it was removed. Some related trivia for you. Madness, you can say what you want on Interscope/Deathrow unless it involves Jimmys faith. "We don't censor our artists" is sort of a myth.

Came in to say this, straight muydah.

A lot of people don't know Deck was on that song, but Tupac didn't want the verse,i cant remember the reason? I think he said it was too New York maybe? But the real reason has to be because he smoked everyone.
Lol at them keeping his adlibs at the end though.

What? lol.

The song with inspectah deck was recorded way before Pac was even signed to deathrow, with lady of rage. Months later when it was decided to be shelved, the producer (either daz or johnny J) just re-used the beat and forgot to take out a backing track. Nothing more.

Sometimes the reality is more boring than fiction. Inspectah Decks and Pac never recorded together, it was just a recycled beat/song from a lady of rage song.

You're half right.
2pac did take off Deck's verse though.
He left in daz',he left in method Man's hook etc.

Can't find the interview where Method Man talks about it,using the exact words "2pac took Deck's verse off"

Very interesting. My Google-Fu is also failing me in finding a definite explanation, but this source speculates it was probably down to Daz being a co-producer on the album.

"Originally, the track was to include Lady of Rage, Tha Dogg Pound, RBx, Method Man, Redman and Inspectah Deck – but when Tupac came to Death Row the final runtime was too long so Inspectah Deck, despite having one of the better verses was dropped. Probably due to star power, I’m sure – but clearly Daz should’ve been replaced if he weren’t doing most the in-house production on Tupac’s ‘All Eyez On Me’ album."

[hiphopandlove.wordpress.com]

That could also be interpreted as Tupac chose to keep Daz over inspectah deck due to being a producer on All Eyez on me, rather than daz making the call himself.

Does anyone actually have the original? The only copies I can find is the 2pac version with Inspectah Deck copy and pasted into it, badly. Even on the urb website it's just a bad quality acapella on top of it.

I want the lady of rage/Inspectah Deck version.

I'd love to hear the original too, straight through.

Someone somewhere on the internet must have it.

Yeah I heard before there was a lot of beats taken off other artists and given to Pac for All Eyez on me, as Suge wanted his new golden boy to have everything. I'm sure that caused some bitterness with other artists, and I agree with meth if that's how it went down, a phone call would have been nice.

California love was basically wrestled out of Dres arms by suge. Although in many interviews (at the time) you have Dre telling a manufactured story that he made it for Pac specifically, which we know today not to be true. That's business I suppose, at the time Tupac was the golden egg so it's no surprise he was given the treasure trove to play with. I had no idea that mind made up went a head without meth and reds permission though, sort of cheapens the track for me a bit.

Still a banging tune.

edit: and cheers for finding that.

OK... It appears my second example video is borked.
Anyway, it was Eminem on 'Renegade'.

@ninjawizard Before I ever heard the uncensored version/read the uncensored lyrics (can't remember which it was), I had always assumed in my noggin that it was "like Hitler, sticking up Jews with German tools". Kinda works still.

@Fog Good call on that AZ 'Life's a Bitch' track.

@everybody else... Tha Realest or Shyne?

He took it with him. Tupac made Toss it up first with the no diggity beat, but Dre sold it on to Blackstreet after he left Deathrow. At the time Tupac was making Dr Dres life a living hell when he was still on Deathrow, so I'm sure after he left he had no reservations to give the track to other artists.

Deathrow still released it with a slightly different beat, but using the same sample so its similar, and Tupac changed his final verse to be a dre diss.

Yea I knew No Diggity was the o.g. Toss It Up. I love all this old school(ish) trivia. Read that whole MethodMan thingy that was posted halfway up by Flip. Any other places for proper Hip Hop trivia ???? I could read it for hours, the likes of Meth talking bout recording with Pac etc. All that type shit is whopppper. How Redman and Meth ever get so close ?
