Temper Mental Miss Elayneous

Current mood:
Am I the only one who doesn't get what the big deal is? Her flow and voice do nothing for me and her rhymes seem all over the place. Went to check out her set at Castlepalooza at the weekend to see if she was any use live and I was bored stiff, she seemed more interested in performing to the camera that was on stage than to the actual audience. What are other people's opinions? What exactly am I missing here?

Current mood:
Nobody appears to be that into her music other than Jim Carroll. It's pretty rough around the edges. She's just got good management. Most of the irish media write about whatever has been pushed at them by the usual suspects.

The way she words her tracks makes them unlistenable imo, Sounds like shes talking shit in them and using big words for the sake of it to sound smart. I doubt she talks like that in day to day life, Never met her tho so could be wrong.

Current mood:
She does talk like that in real life. Went to Banter session in Limerick every time she started talking she went on for 5 minutes without making a single point except bringing it back to herself and her own personal artistic interpretation of bleeeuuurgh. The only thing that kept me sane was watching Keyo's facial expressions. I wish I'd had a video camera.

Women can't rap, unless of course you happen to be Lauryn Hill or a select few others.

That has to be the reason, because her music is completely unlistenable. Only thing she has is a large vocabulary, but she thinks wedging a load of big words awkwardly into her verses sounds good - she has no clue about flow whatsoever. Her voice & delivery are irritating as fuck as well. Sickening that she's starting to get well known.

What's wrong with that opinion? If that was most people's first exposure to IHH they'd write the whole thing off as a load of bollox - obviously there's going to be a handful of people who'll go looking for more, but it's extremely unlikely when the first Irish rapper you hear is woeful. I'd rather see someone good get famous, and I'm delighted that with each year IHH gets more and more recognition. The likes of TMME can fuck right off.

You fucking sheepsnake.

" If that was most people's first exposure to IHH they'd write the whole thing off as a load of bollox "

most people already think irish hip hop is a load of bollox anyway. she is doing pretty well on bandcamp sales and on blogs and shit, so obviously people dont think shes woeful at all
i dont like her music personally but at least shes doing something concrete and having success with it

Mind you it's mostly rappers own fault that they zero exposure. They don't put in any legwork. Lethal Dialect is the only one who went about it properly. Or maybe Infomatics and MJEX.

This is all Collie's fault.

he has a unique look and style, and is an interesting character, and is the type of artist that will attract media attention, and she's female, so it's easy to write about her, doing the Katie Taylor tune was a savvy move too

Basically what I'm saying is she has a lot going on before you have to bother actually listening to her music (which I think is pretty shite) much more interesting from a media sense than 2 lads in tracksuit rhyming about selling hash
