This years Belfast heat of the Official DMC mixing championships will
take place at The Orpheus, University Street, Belfast on Thursday 8th
August at 9pm.
Each contestant gets six minutes to prove their skills on the decks to
both the audience and the judges. The crowd will be entertained both before
and after the event by guest DJ Davy Splyce, MC Kat and some special guests
to be confirmed. This is only the second time in the competitions history
that it has been held in Belfast, it was last held here two years ago
where it was won by JP McGonagle ( a Derry native who was living locally
at the time ). He also went on to win a place on the Red Bull DJ Academy
in New York shortly afterwards, though his visit was cut in half by the
intervention of a certain Osama Bin Laden (allegedly).
Respected Belfast turntablists and past winners of the competition,Chris
Caul and DJ Kato, are to be among this years judges in order to make way
for the new breed of young turntablists eager to show off their skllis
on the 1210's.
If you have never witnessed a dj battle then this night would be something
special for you to see, if you have then you'll be there.
The winning mix will be broadcast on Radio Ulster Across The Line on Thursday
15th August.
There are still places for further entrants, for details call 02890 329056
