MILLER NEW BREATHE 2002 goes hiphop for the final show of the series on 16th March with a triple bill featuring San Francisco's finest rap act  PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS, Big Dada rhymesmaster TY from London and Cork's adopted son EXILE EYE.  Filling in the gaps will be young Dublin scratch DJ FLIP.

Thanks to sponsorship from Miller and Fructis Style, these shows will be filmed for broadcast on No Disco between March and May this year.  No Disco beams out on Network 2 every Wednesday at 11:15pm.

PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS

People Under the Stairs are San Francisco’s premiere hiphop act - it seems inevitable that the release of their third album ‘OST’ this June will see them transfer their universal critical appeal transfers into the commercial success of peers such as Jurassic 5 and De La Soul. This is their first headline Irish show – PUTS in classic form is about funky jazz loops, crisp scratching, and a refreshingly lighthearted attitude towards hip hop.  “Our ultimate goal with the new record is to have the person listening to the music feel like they personally know us.” says Thes.  “I’d like for someone to have a good feeling for what I’m about after hearing the music.”

One of the funkiest and finest duo’s in West Coast underground hiphop.”  Leagues O’Toole, No Disco

TY

UK hiphop’s wisest poet Ty is known by some as host of ‘The Lyrical Lounge’, London’s most  popular live hip-hop club and will also be recognised as a presenter from Channel 4’s ‘Flava’ programme.

However it was the release of Ty’s debut album ‘Awkward’ early in 2001 that really showed the  world his true gifts as a producer and rapper.   Accompanied by DJ Bizniz of The En4cers, this is a unique preview of Ty’s eagerly awaited second LP which is due late this summer.

"The first essential release of 2001... Ty’s is already one of the year's best albums" - Blues & Soul

EXILE EYE

Born in San Jose, California; Exile Eye moved in Cork in his teens where he developed a God-like standing over six years of making music and gigging. Now based in Dublin; Exile Eye is widely acknowledged as a formidable and intelligent lyricist who depicts life in urban Ireland with a no holds barred approach. As a producer, he is consistently innovative in production techniques and rhyme flow.

All this will be evident on the imminent release of his debut LP ‘Pressure Points’. Having headlined his own gigs and supported the likes of Rahzel and Juarassic 5; he is a particularly confident live performer.

“Exile Eye’s  “Optic Nerve” is not only a benchmark for Irish Hip Hop, but will be appreciated by underground heads world wide”. H2Eire
